Au mois de mars à Paris, les affiches de Remember Me ont commencé à apparaître un peu partout, dans la rue, dans le métro… SND, le distributeur français du film ainsi que de Twilight, avait apparemment bien calculé son coup pour faire coïncider les premières affiches de RM avec la sortie du DVD de New Moon.

Last March in Paris, the first RM billboards began to pop up everywhere, in the streets and the métro. It seems that SND, the French distributor for RM and Twilight, had finely timed its strategy so that the RM advertising would parallel its marketing campaign for the New Moon DVD release in France.
Du coup, un beau matin, on s’est retrouvé sur le quai du métro avec d’un côté Edwaaaaard aux yeux dorés tout sérieux avec sa Bella et de l’autre Tyler tout câlin avec Ally. Double ration de Rob avant d’aller travailler, ça met tout de suite de bonne humeur (petit clin d’œil à mon amie Siobhan du forum Twilight France) !

So what happened? Well, one morning we happy Parisians walked unsuspectingly into our métro station to find golden-eyes Edward clutching his Bella and staring gravely at us from the opposite platform, while on our platform just above our ugly plastic yellow seats, Tyler and Ally smiled tenderly at each other. What more can a girl ask for – a double dose of Rob before going to work is bound to make you feel happy.

A commencé alors un véritable safari-photos RM dans le métro de Paname. J’avoue avoir raté quelques métros afin de prendre mes photos sans qu’on me regarde bizarrement, ou être allée faire un tour sur les quais avec mon appareil-photo aux heures les plus creuses… alors que je n'avais pas besoin de prendre le métro du tout.

That when I started picture hunting in the Parisian métro. I may have missed a few trains so that I could snap away discreetly without being stared at like a weirdo. I may also have gone on purpose at the quietest traffic hours when I knew there would be no one on the platform, I may have taken a few pictures and then I may have not taken the metro at all.

Quand les grandes affiches ont disparu au bout d’une semaine, surprise surprise, de nouvelles affiches de format long et étroit ont alors fleuri dans les couloirs du métro. Et ce n’est pas fini… la suite du safari-photos dans un autre post …

After about a week the giant billboards were taken down from the platforms, only to be replaced – surprise, surprise - by other longer, narrower billboards which were displayed in the passages before you go downstairs to the platforms. Picture-hunting was not over - there will be more.

Celle-là c’est juste pour vous faire plaisir. Gros plan sur Edwaaaaard. Et Bella. J’ai presque attrapé un torticolis à force de le regarder sur l’affiche au-dessus de moi quand j’attendais dans le métro.

OK - I’ve put that one just to make you happy. A huge zoom on Edwaaaaard. I almost got a stiff neck trying to stare at him when I sat right beneath the billboard waiting for my métro.

A la mi-février 2010, aux alentours de la Saint-Valentin, je me souviens que je me dirigeais vers mon multiplexe favori pour voir je ne sais plus trop quel film (j’ai oublié !). Ligne 14, puis station Cour St Emilion. Et là, station Bercy, où je fais mon changement, j’aperçois ma toute première affiche de Remember Me.

C'était peut-être un cadeau de St Valentin pour moi de la part d'un admirateur anonyme ?

Maybe some anonymous admirer had this put up in the metro just for me - for St Valentine?

Ce sont les toutes premières à avoir été publiées, bien avant la sortie du film en France le 7 avril, et elles y sont restées une dizaine de jours. Je ne sais pas à quelle logique marketing ça correspond, car c’était beaucoup trop tôt. Et par contre, après, il n’y a plus jamais eu de grande affiche RM au multiplexe UGC… pourquoi ? Je ne sais pas … c’est un mystère, comme dirait Henslowe dans Shakespeare in Love. Une de mes répliques favorites !

Armée de mon appareil photo je suis revenue le lendemain et ai immortalisé tout ça, avec même un gros plan sur les visages souriants de Rob et d’Emilie, merci mon méga-zoom.

Deux jours après j’ai enrôlé mon collègue Georges complètement abasourdi mais néanmoins assez indulgent pour me faire la photo tout près de Rob (il n’a pas la moindre idée de qui c’est, mais tu as droit à mes remerciements éternels Georges, si tu lis ça un jour).

Après tout, je n’approcherai jamais, jamais Rob de plus près… alors je n’allais pas me priver de cette occasion.

J’y crois pas, elle l’a fait.

Je suis incorrigible, je n’ai jamais grandi ? Yes ! Mais avouez… vous auriez fait pareil à ma place.


It was mid-February 2010, a few days before Saint Valentine’s Day and I was going to my favorite multiplex – I don’t even remember what I was going to see, actually. I was riding the 14 Line and on the platform of the Bercy tube station where I change lines, tad-dah! I suddenly saw my very first Parisian Remember Me billboard.

They’re the very first billboards which appeared in the Parisian métro, months before the film was released (it was only scheduled for April 7th) and they stayed on display for about ten days. I’m not too sure of the marketing strategy behind this choice as it was way too early to advertise the film. Afterwards, in late March, RM posters kept popping up in the tube, but the people at the UGC multiplex never put up the huge promotional RM billboard again … why? I don’t know… it’s a mystery, as Philip Henslowe says in Shakespeare in Love (one of my fave sentences ever !)

I came back the following day with my camera and snapped away, and treated myself to the hugest mega-zoom ever on Rob and Emily’s smiling faces.

A couple of days afterwards, before going to the cinema I asked my colleague Georges – who was completely taken aback by my behaviour but nevertheless indulged me (thank you forever for that, Georges) - to take a pic of me standing sooo close to paper Rob (Georges has no idea who Rob is).

Hey, I’ll never, ever get as close to Rob in my life… so I wasn’t going to miss that opportunity.

Oooh I spy some eyebrow-raising with my little eye… Are you implying that I never grew up? No, I never did. But be honest… you would have done exactly the same.

REMEMBER ME ET LE PETIT COEUR - I HEART REMEMBER ME

Aujourd’hui, après tant de textes sérieux, place aux images avec un petit post plus léger. Voici la jolie petite merveille que Fanoudusud, la spécialiste du forum Twilight France (http://twilight-france.forumactif.com/les-acteurs-de-la-saga-et-leurs-projets-au-cinema-f29) où nous discutons de Remember Me, nous a dénichée sur la toile : c’est une affiche de Remember me dans le métro de New York (on peut le voir à la date de sortie du film : le 12 mars). D’habitude, quand les gens taguent les affiches ou écrivent quelque chose dessus, ce sont des horreurs mais là… quelqu’un a dessiné un mignon petit cœur sur le visage de Robert. Bon OK après tout ces articles et témoignages graves, on peut bien s’octroyer une petite minute « allez on craque on fond toutes !! ». Ce doit être l’effet magique RM… laissez-vous faire !

Et j'ajoute ici cette jolie réflexion de maidi-sun de notre forum français sur RM :

Je viens de revoir la photo et c'est marrant parce que le petit coeur a été dessiné juste au niveau de l'oeil comme une représentation de toutes ses larmes que l'on a versées pour le film... Je ne sais pas si c'était intentionnel ou pas mais je trouve que le symbole est assez mignon...

I thought that after posting so many serious articles we really needed something lighter –some eye candy and a lighter subject. So here’s a lovely little gem of a picture which French blogger Fanoudusud, who participates on our French RM discussion forum and who’s the real expert for finding really good pics on the Web, found for us this week : it’s a Remember Me billboard in the New York subway (you can tell it’s the US as the release date is March 12th). Normally, people just scribble plain ugly crap on billboards, but not this time: this time, someone drew a tiny, lovely little heart on Rob’s face. Yeah, I know, I know, I’m being sentimental, but we’ve been so serious on the blog (and will be again), surely we can indulge in our little « oooh I loooove RM – it’s so cuuute » moment ? Maybe that’s the RM magical love spell … so enjoy it!
I also wanted to mention this lovely comment by maidi-sun, one of the French bloggers on our RM discussion :
"I've just looked at the pic again and I find it odd that the tiny heart was drawn just close to Rob's eye, as if it were a symbol of all the tears we've shed watching the film... I don't know if it was done deliberately or not, but I think it's a rather lovely symbol".
