Fanarts de Tyler
An artist friend on deviantart.com, BlueAbyss17404, made this wonderful portrait of Tyler for me. We were doing a free sketch game and I asked her to do a scene of her choice from Remember Me. Without knowing it, she picked one of my favourite scenes - the one where we see him for the first time, sitting on the fire escape, smoking his eternal cigarette.

In her art gallery, there's also an older portrait of Tyler, based on a still from the film and which she reinterpreted in her own way, and which I also like a lot. This is the scene where we see Tyler for the last time outside the WTC, as he walks in this beautiful sunny September morning, a small smile on his face, and laughter in his blue eyes. I like the way the artist blurred the background into a sort of golden haze where a few anonymous figures are seen walking away, as if vanishing into nowhere: symbolizing those lives which are going to fade into nothing - these innocents who are going to die.

I love these Tyler pieces of art, and your words to go with them, Rum. The last one, Tyler walking away and giving us one last look at him as he glances over his shoulder, is conceptually great, to my mind.
RépondreSupprimerThe fire escape Tyler is also one of my favourite scenes and BlueAbyss did this very well.
Thanks to both of you.
I agrer with you jesse, the last one is conceptually great. It is actually based on an original still, but the artist changed the background and I think it was a good idea. It's a like a good-bye still, it feels that he's saying good-bye to us... Good God, it makes me sad just writing these words - what is it about this film that makes me so sad, every time??
RépondreSupprimerAs to the fire escape one, Im' glad she chose that one becasue without knwowing it, she picked my favourite picture and moment of the film. When he was still alive, when we see him for the first time. We have talked about this so many times...
RépondreSupprimerI'm exploring these again, as I haven't been to the site in a while, Rum. I even commented before. But the one with Tyler walking away yet looking back at us, only to vanish, is still a heartbreaker. This movie moved me as no other. I've seen Rob's wonderful work in WFE, but you know what? Tyler is the character I love most still, and I still think Rob did an excellent job bringing us the heart and soul of him. When I see this rendition, by BlueAbyss, if has a visceral effect on me; I just want to grab his shirt and haul him back into life. I can't help it.
